Single-Ply Roof Upgrade

Cambridge Roofers Ltd successfully delivered a Single-Ply Roof Upgrade for a commercial office facility facing persistent water ingress. The existing single-ply roof membrane had failed despite repeated repairs, leading to disruptions and risk to the building. Our goal was to provide a durable, long-term solution that minimised disruption and gave the client peace of mind.

Project Challenges

The Single-Ply Roof Upgrade  involved overcoming several challenges. The failed roof membrane posed risks of further water ingress, and works needed to be planned carefully to avoid disruption to the client’s operations. Safety was paramount, so a scaffold system was designed with the support of our Health and Safety Officer, ensuring no additional stress was placed on the old membrane.

Our Approach

We collaborated with Lancastria, a leading roofing manufacturer, to develop the specification. After a detailed site survey, it was agreed that an Endura felt roofing system was the most effective solution.

  • A 6mm recovery board was mechanically fixed over the existing membrane.

  • Plywood was installed to reinforce upstands.

  • A two-layer Endura APP felt system was applied, backed by a 20-year warranty.

  • GRP trims provided a clean finish, and Lancastria’s liquid system was used to seal transitions between plant room upstands and the new felt system.

Daily photographic records and regular inspections were carried out to ensure compliance and quality. Communication with the client remained constant throughout.

Results

The Single-Ply Roof Upgrade was completed on time and within budget. The new felt system resolved immediate leaks, provided cost efficiency by avoiding full roof replacement, and delivered long-term assurance with a robust warranty.
