Princebuild, a repeat-valued client, sought our expertise after storm damage affected a lead-clad curved turret at The Glades. The primary challenge revolved around implementing precise and targeted localized repairs to maintain the functionality of the lead-clad curved turret while minimizing unnecessary interventions. This approach was pivotal not only in ensuring the preservation of the turret’s essential functions but also in strategically curbing any superfluous repair works. By pinpointing specific areas affected by the storm damage and efficiently addressing only those sections, we effectively optimized the repair process. This meticulous strategy significantly contributed to cost savings for our client, a clear demonstration of our commitment to delivering value-added solutions by avoiding unnecessary expenditures and ensuring an economically sound outcome.
The Challenges
The storm left localised damage on the curved turret, necessitating a careful assessment to retain functional lead and judiciously introduce new sections. Moreover, the significant challenge of the scaffolding tower required ground-level cordoning for public safety, adding complexity to the project.
Cambridge Roofer’s Approach
Our strategy began with a detailed evaluation to preserve functional lead and selectively replace damaged sections with Code 6 lead. Precision was key, employing cord timber rolls and welted joins for a seamless integration of the new lead. Hot works permits facilitated localised welding repairs, ensuring durability.
Lead Repairs
For lead panel replacement, we installed 9 m² of Code 6 specification lead panels, meticulously aligning them with existing structures and offering optional patination oil treatment for enhanced durability.
